Glenorchy Magpies vs Clarence Kangaroos – Round 2

After their bye in Round 1, Glenorchy kicked off their season against rivals Clarence at home on Saturday Afternoon.

Both teams battled the elements with strong winds and inconsistent showers to contend with at KGV.

Clarence maintained control for the first half and enjoyed a 24-point lead at half time.

Glenorchy managed to fight back in the third and heading into the final break scores were level at 52-52.

Clarence were eventually too strong in the third quarter as they booted 5 goals to eventually win by 33-points.

Glenorchy’s Ben Kamaric was the obvious best on ground as he ended up with a game high 5 goals and 30 disposals.

He led from the front in Glenorchy’s 3rd quarter fightback, the star midfielder was involved in all 5 of Glenorchy’s comeback goals snagging 4 himself.

Clarence’s dominance in the midfield and strong connection into the forward half is what won them the game in the 4th Quarter.

Recruit North Hobart Baxter Norton and Jarrod Harper are developing as a strong wing duo for Clarence both racking up 25 disposals.

Ethan Jackson is proving to be one of the main players to watch this season backing up his display of 35 disposals against Lauderdale in round 1 with 26 this week.

Clarence will enjoy their first home game of the season this weekend against North Launceston at Blundstone Arena, while Glenorchy will welcome Lauderdale to KGV on Saturday.

Final Score Clarence 13.9.(87) def. Glenorchy 8.7.(55)
